Phrasal Verbs (Going out)

Going Out

Victoria and I love going to posh restaurants where we have to dress up though Victoria always finds it hard to decide what to put on. Her favourite evening dress is long, red and tight-fitting and she has to get me to help her do up the zip. As we live in Moscow we have to wrap up well before going out in winter and she puts a long fur coat on over her dress. As soon as we arrive anywhere, she goes straight to the ladies room to freshen up.

1. Try to guess the meaning of the bold phrasal verbs related with people:

2. Complete the following sentences with the correct phrasal verb:

  • You've had such a long journey. Would you like some time to ___________ before we go out to dinner?
  • It's a very informal party. You don't have to ________________.
  • Will you help me _______________ my dress' I can't reach the buttons at the back.
  • It's freezing cold today, so if you're going out, do _________________ well, and ___________ a scarf.
  • Excuse me, where is the toilet? I need to _______________.

3. Time for writing and speaking!

Now you can practice with your teacher and ask her/him about what she/he does before going out.
If you prefer, you can also do a writing about your routine before going out or write different examples for these phrasal verbs.
