We had a problem! (Past Continuous)

We had a problem!

It was exactly ten o'clock. Outside, it was raining. We were reading our books in the living room, and our 9-year-old twins were sleeping quietly in their bedroom. My husband was drinking a cup of tea, and I was smoking a cigarette. Our 16-year-old daughter was walking towards the door. She was wearing her dark blue raincoat and she was holding an umbrella. She was eating a chocolate bar. Our cats were walking beside her, and our dog was barking loudly. It was a normal evening. Suddenly, two men jumped through the window!
