Daily Routines (Sleep and Food)

Sleep

During the week Garfield usually wakes up at 6.30 a.m. He sometimes lies in bed for thirty minutes, but then he has to get up. Most evenings, he goes to be at about 11.30 p.m. He is always very tired, so he goes to sleep/ falls asleep very quickly. Occasionally though, he can't get to sleep because he can't stop thinking on lasagne. When that happens, he sometimes manages to fall asleep about 3 a.m., then he oversleeps in the morning. If he has a late night, he has a nap in the afternoon. However, even if he hasn't a late night, he loves having a nap. The weekends are different. On Saturday and Sunday he has a lie-in.

1. Try to guess the meaning of the bold words related with the sleeping routine:

Food

In the week he has breakfast at 7.30 a.m., has lunch at 1.00 p.m., and has dinner around 7 p.m. He also has two or three snacks, e.g. cakes, biscuits or ice cream, during the day. As he doesn't live alone/on his own/ by himself, he never has to make his own breakfast and dinner because John doesn't bother to cook very much. John also has to feed Odie, his other pet.
