Prefixes (Vocabulary Part I)

With the meaning "NOT"

Un- is used with many different words

Im- is used before some words beginning with m or p

Il- is used before some words beginning with l

Ir- is only used before some words beginning with r

Dis- is used before some adjectives

In- is used before a limited number of words


1. Make a list with some words that you know using the previous Prefixes




Some verb prefixes

Un-  the opposite of an action

Dis-  to reverse the action

Re-  again

Over-  too much

Mis-  badly or incorrectly

2. Try to make some sentences using verbs with any of the previous prefixes.
